Stability at low pH
In the low pH mobile phase, the main reason for the short column life is the fall of the chemical bonding group from the silica gel due to hydrolysis.
Hydrolysis leads to variation in analyte retention time, short duration and poor reproducibility.
C18 0W/0P shows high pH stability at low mobile phase scale with low retention time variation for tens and tens of hours.
Stability at high pH
In the mobile phase at high pH, the silica matrix gradually dissolves.
The ordinary pH range of silica-based columns is 2-8. When the pH of the mobile phase is above 8, the silica gel dissolves rapidly and the column life is very short.
C18 0W/0P columns are able to protect the silica matrix and prolong its lifetime under high pH conditions due to the unique binding and endcapping technology.
