COOKED MEAT MEDIUM - 500 g
Nonselective medium used for anaerobe stock culture maintenance, subculture of pathogenic Clostridia species and as an enrichment medium for recovering low populations of obligate anaerobes.
Packaging
For test tubes, weigh 1.25 g of cooked meat pellets per 10 ml purified water. For bottles or flasks, weigh 12.5 g of pellets per 100 ml purified water. Allow the suspensions to stand for several minutes for the pellets to absorb water. Autoclave at 121ºC for 15 minutes. allow chamber pressure to normalize slowly. Tighten caps while very hot retard oxygen uptake and allow media to cool without agitation. if not used within 24 hours of preparing, reheat medium to 100 ºC to drive off reabsorbed oxygen.
